Into the Light You think you’re broken, but you’re strong, Right where you belong, no second guessing It’s hard to know what you feel when nothing seems real And we’re all stressing I beg and I plead for sweet salvation It comes at such a cost I think of all we’ve found and lost [Chorus] I can’t stop thinking Ooooh, I can’t stop thinking I think about it, think about it Out walking in the woods, Listing coulds and shoulds for inspiration The trees have got it right We should lean into the light [Chorus] Trees... got it right, have got it right Lean... into the light, into the light... Into the light… Come out of your hiding, lean into the light... Come out of your hiding!

Better Way 03:34
Better Way You knew something was wrong You told me that yourself You had a feeling all along But you denied yourself thinking That there’s [Chorus] Got to be a better way There’s got to be a better way Better, better way There’s a better way The timing wasn’t right You can never change the facts Try as hard as you might You can’t take it back [Chorus] I can see the writing’s on the wall And it’s darker than before Darker than before I know you have the mettle And all I’m gonna say Don’t allow yourself to settle It’s never too late [Chorus] There’s got to be a better, better way...
3.
What Would Love Do Now When you’ve been knocked down, Punched in the chest and it's hard to breathe Well you were so in love You gave it your best now it’s time to leave And now you’re all alone on a tarnished throne And wondering how Start asking yourself… What would love do now? [Chorus] What would love do now... When the skies are all gray? What would love do now... When you’re trying to find your way? Through the middle of the night Sleep your mind will not allow Start asking yourself... What would love do now? When you hit rock bottom do you come back up... What would love do now? Or do you linger a while in the deep end… What would love do now? And when you’re telling yourself That the weight of the water feels good somehow What would love do now? Start asking yourself… What would love do now? [Chorus] When it seems the darkest and your feet get cold... What would love do now? And when you tell yourself that you’re getting old... What would love do now? When the going gets tough, Wipe the sweat from your brow What would love do now? Keep asking yourself... What would love do now [Chorus] Keep asking yourself... What would love do now? What would love, love, love, love, love do now?...

Survival 03:34
Survival Oooh, Oooh Sometimes you’re on the right side Sometimes you’re in the dark Oooh, oooh It comes at you from the TV set It comes at you from the friends that you never met Oooh, oooh What you need is love A chance to rest your mind Love’s working overtime Survival, survival Oooh, oooh Reaching out with a helping hand Taking time to make a stand Oooh, oooh And when the leaves are turning brown Nothing but ashes falling to the ground Oooh, oooh When everything is crowding in And your patience is growing thin Love’s working overtime Survival, survival Oooh, oooh Survival What we need is love A chance to rest our minds When everything is crowding in And your patience is growing thin What you need is love A chance to rest your mind Love’s working overtime Survival, survival Oooh, oooh...
5.
I’ve Held On As Long As I Can [Chorus] I’ve held on as long as I can I’ve held on as long as I can... Tossing and turning Burning the candle at both ends Filling the cracks in the void With my family and my good friends My body has taken a toll My mind wants to let it all go The spirit is whispering (let it go…) [Chorus] There's not enough time In one life to get it all done So you make up your mind, Choose a path and break off in a full run One day you find yourself there You realize that you don't even care As your spirit is whispering (let it go…) [Chorus] I can’t say “Yes” when I’m feeling “No” It’s time to let it go Will I never know When to let it go So I let it all out And gave a big shout out to the heavens I gave up the ghost And started making the most of what I've been given Now I breathe a bit deeper each day And I find myself working away With the spirit As the big world is whispering (let it go…) [Chorus]
6.
Tear Down the Walls It’s a fall from grace It’s an emptiness The smile on your face Says more than you confess So you’ve lost the thread You feel you’re all alone Get out of your head The journey brings you home [Chorus] This mountain’s high enough I’ll be there if you fall Are you tired of acting tough? Tear down the walls Tear down the walls Every wounded heart Needs a place to grow You’ve only got to start The universe will know [Chorus] It’s a fall from grace It’s an emptiness The smile on your face Says more than you confess [Chorus] When you’re past the promise Beyond the pale There’s always something more to scale Your long held dreams are fading fast Cling to your faith Are you gonna last? On your own it’s harder still Let me help you up the hill Tear down the walls, tear down the walls...
7.
Sugar in the Blood [Chorus] Sugar in the blood, blood on the land Ain’t no holy water gonna wash these hands We’re never gonna to get to see The money they stole while we were taking a knee Scared to death to lose what we got We choked out a brother just to thicken the plot [Chorus] Made to think what you want is wrong Feed us more lies to string us along In a perfect world we’d understand All we've got is each other [Chorus] Lies, deception, profit for some Scraps for the rest, grab a Bible and gun While the kings, queens block out the sun We stare in the mirror Look what we've become [Chorus] Sugar in the blood
8.
There’s Always Something We all get ourselves into these things Just to see how we’ll get out There's no telling what the future brings It's easy to say that now [Chorus] But there's always something Holding you back from just diving in Climbing out of the depths of your hell One step at a time There's no better way of proving to yourself That you'll be fine [Chorus] Shudder to think what we’ll become Change is hard for everyone There’s always something...
9.
Out To Sea 04:42
Out to Sea Today the waves Are breaking over my shoulders Taking me out to sea I pray tomorrow We’re another day older Will you swim out to me? Ahhh….. The ghosts and spirits The memories of seasons Running out of time Do we need to list all the reasons? And the ones we’ve left behind? Ahhh….. I don’t need to read your mind I don’t need you to read mine [Chorus] I don’t need to read your mind I know you’d like me to be more patient Sometimes the lines get crossed And I find myself misunderstanding I’ll take it down a notch, down from 11 I know I’ve been overreacting Ahhh….. [Chorus] Ahhh….. Today the waves Are breaking over my shoulders Taking me out to sea
10.
The Mess We’re In A standing stone in a desperate field A solitary space for your soul to heal A Celtic cross to remember you by And a fine soft day helps a man to cry [Chorus] The mess we're in The mess we're in Well it all comes down to sink or swim With the mess we're in It’s a mess we’re in Connemara ponies on a craggy ol’ shore In a cottage made of stone with a weathered sturdy door There’s time to read and time to write I may even remember how to sleep at night [Chorus] There’ll be a time and place for that For now I’ve got to keep it under my hat [Chorus] Well it all comes down to sink or swim With the mess we're in It’s a mess we’re in The tide rolls in, the tide rolls out There ain’t that much left to talk about You’ve set anchor and I’m set to swim And leave behind the mess we're in [Chorus] There’ll be a time and place for that For now I’ve got to keep it under my hat [Chorus]

about

Moors & McCumber Boulder, Colorado

James Moors and Kort McCumber are Americana musicians who craft beautiful story songs that walk the line between rootsy folk and melodic pop. The two songwriters met at the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival in Lyons, CO in 2005. Sitting around swapping songs, they each heard something in the music of the other that just fit. The two have been performing and writing together ever since. ... more
