Love & War
03:36
|
|||
Love and War Moors/McCumber
(Chorus)
There are no hard fast rules
when it comes to love and war
you best know what you're after
and what you're in it for
Without a leg to stand
he makes an argument
based on delusion
and tampered evidence
Everything is rosie
when you have the right away
some will claim they're holy
as they try to take your rights away
(Chorus)
Raised upon conviction
full of bleeding heart
you're a dream or a nightmare
it can be hard to tell apart
Everything is rosie
when you have the right away
some will claim they're holy
as they try to take your rights away
(Chorus)
(Break)

Buried In Stone
02:36
|
|||
Buried in Stone
I am a gypsy
i follow the wind
of change where it takes me
I move from within
a sculpture buried in stone
I'm buried in stone
I'm a bit typsy
I've had too much wine
if you don't want kiss me
don't tell me why
or say that you're love is
a fragile thing
buried in stone
love is a fragile thing
buried in stone
love is a fragile thing
some want a big red rose
some want a diamond ring
I don't want either of those
buried in stone
love is a fragile thing
buried in stone
you don't have to convince me
I've made my false starts
I've tried to move mountains
they've all fallen apart
nothing but flesh and bone
buried in stone
love is a fragile thing
buried in stone (4x)

I Used To Run Around
03:40
|
|||
I used to run around
I met him on the top of a mountain
I never really did catch his name
but out of his mouth came a fountain
his story his life he did say
I recall a time when I was younger
living off the land and for the land
I was a child full of wonder
but nature had its way and made a man
I used to run around
with a band full of trouble
who never really did settle down
I should have used a body double
I've spent so much time falling down
I used to run around
gave the fox a run for his money
hot on the trail like a hound
I've tired of all the running
I'm ready sit this one out
I used to run around
Break
back in the day I had a hunger
iving fast was living free
I don't know how I'm not six feet under
it's hard to believe
Chorus
Break
Chorus
I met him on the top of a mountain
I never really did catch his name

It's Different Now
03:18
|
|||
It's Different now
You can't go back
to where you've been
it's different now
It was a bright white snow fallen down
to cover tracks that we laid down
the night before
I got tired of holding my own hand
trying to know where I can and cannot stand
and it's not so clear
when courage disappears
And You can't go back
to where you've been
it's different now
No You can't go back
to where you've been
it's different now
it's different now
why wait for this thing to come undone
mistakes were made
And You can't go back
to where you've been
it's different now
You can't go back
to where you've been
it's different now
it's different now
it's different now

Slan Abhaile

Slan Abhaile
This fire smells of peat and reminds me of home
a place i've not lived but i've grown to love
from McGanns up in Doolin, to dingle bay
we conjured up music and we're carried away
by the sounds of Irish fiddle, the sound of Uillean pipes,
and the sound of the Irish whistle fills the air tonight
[chorus]
in our green island home, we were carried away
to a time when our fathers were living this way
with a pint in the evening to settle the score
we rise up singing till we’re human once more
we sang a song with Michael we sang a song with Mick
we sang a song for our old friend Tom who could sing the hell out of this
and we sang a song for Evie and we sang a song for Lil’
and we sang a song we could all sing along, we laughed and we had our fill
[chorus]
[solo]
slainte mhaith mo chairde my friends
slan abhaile while you're travelling
slainte mhaith mo chairde one more round
slan abhaile homeward bound
green island home, we were carried away
to a time when our fathers were living this way
with a pint in the evening to settle the score
we rise up singing and we’re human once more
with a pint in the evening to settle the score
we rise up singing and we’re human once more
slainte mhaith mo chairde, slan abhaile,
slainte mhaith mo chairde, slan abhaile (6X)

Martyr's Lounge
03:51
|
|||
Martyr's Lounge Ellis Paul
Leo's is a bar up in heaven
Where all the martyrs hang out
Gandhi staggers in with john lennon
They'll start a bar fight, no doubt
Chorus
When you lead, they follow
When you bleed, oh the masses feel your pain
Plant your seed, setting sunflowers
Growing inside our brains...
Now jesus don't need no introduction
He's got a famous old man
And a party for twelve
I see Cobain, he's well
He's in the angels that fell
A local touring bar band.
Chorus
JFK, Joan of Arc
Sit in the corner, kissing in the dark
Marilyn Monroe, Jacques Cousteau
Talk about the sharks they used to know...

Feeling In Your Belly
03:17
|
|||
Feeling In Your Belly Moors/McCumber
There's a feeling in your belly when you know that things are right
like a home cooked meal on a Sunday night
like a small town market in the public square
everything's familiar and your friends are all there
you're having a ball
you're having it all
na na na na na na na na na na
When she moved to the city to get her degree
I wondered if she ever stopped to think of me
the nights we spent on a blanket under stars
everyone said she was gonna go far
she's having a ball
she's having it all
na na na na na na na na na na
I went to work counting money for the bank
but I never saved a penny and the market tanked
they handed out the bail to the CEO's
and told everybody that we had to go
I thought I had it all
I never had it all
na na na na na na na na na na
Now I'm sitting on the back porch rocking in my chair
how it's all happened is neither here nor there
the kids came quick life moves fast
living in the moment not living in the past
we're having a ball
we're having it all
na na na na na na na na na na

Raining Down In Georgia
04:20
|
|||
Raining Down in Georgia DeForrest/Moors/McCumber
IT WAS RAINING DOWN IN GEORGIA, THE FIRST WEEK OF THE FALL
THE RIVER STARTED RISIN’, ‘NEATH THE FURY OF THE SQUALL
AND THE LEVEE THAT THEY BUILT, BACK IN THE SPRING OF ‘81
STARTED LOOKIN’ LIKE IT WOULDN’T HOLD, WHEN ALL WAS SAID AND DONE
EVERY ABLE BODIED CHILD, EVERY WOMAN, EVERY MAN
FOUGHT THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT TO FILL THE BAGS OF SAND
WHEN THEY SAW WHAT THEY WERE UP AGAINST AT THE EARLY CRACK OF DAWN
THEY KNEW THAT IT WAS TIME RUN
[CHORUS]
THE WATER GIVES US LIFE, WATER TAKES AWAY
WATER OF BAPTIZING MAY SAVE,
WHEN IT GET'S A RISING IT'S A HIGHWAY TO THE GRAVE
STUBBORN STEPHEN JACKSON, AND THE WIDOW IDA BROWN
WERE HELL BENT AND DETERMINED, TO STAND AND HOLD THEIR GROUND
WHEN ALL OF EVERYBODY ELSE, EVACUATED TOWN
THEY STAYED BEHIND AND NOW IT’S ALMOST CERTAIN THAT THEY DROWNED
[CHORUS]
(SOLO)
WHEN THE WATER HAD SUBSIDED THEY WADED THROUGH THE MUD
TO FIND THAT EVERYTHING THEY OWNED WAS SWALLOWED BY THE FLOOD
THE TAVERN, THE STEEPLE, THEIR WAY OF LIFE WAS GONE
THE ONLY HOME THEY’D EVER KNOWN
[CHORUS]
[BRIDGE]
SO THEY HELD A LITTLE VIGIL THAT SEPTEMBER AFTERNOON
TRADING TALES ABOUT THE PLACE THE WATER HAD CONSUMED
THEY SWORE THEY’D FIND A WAY TO RESURRECT THEIR SODDEN TOWN
THEY PRAYED FOR STEPHEN JACKSON AND FOR MRS. IDA BROWN
[CHORUS]

Hey Hey
03:02
|
|||
Hey Hey
Hey Hey it's a might fine day
Sun is shining down and the bills are all paid
sitting on the back porch
baby's on the swing
If I could I wouldn't change a thing
Sure I'd take just a little more money
who wouldn't take just a little more time?
but if you gave me a month of sundays
I'd be hard pressed to find a life that I'd trade for mine
Hey Hey it's a mighty fine day
a gentle breeze blows my cares away
my kite's in the sky
tugging on a string
If I could I wouldn't change a thing
sure I just want to be happy
no one's happy all of the time
it's best in this life you learn to be scrappy
some say even Jesus turned the water into wine
Hey Hey it's a mighty fine day
Hey Hey it's a mighty fine day
Hey Hey it's a mighty fine day
Hey Hey it's a might fine day
Sun is shining down and the bills are all paid
sitting on the back porch
baby's on the swing
If I could I wouldn't change a thing

Against The Grain
04:22
|
|||
Against The Grain Moors/McCumber
We held up fairly well
we stayed behind and we gave it hell
when the whole world seemed to be burning down
we closed in tight and stood our ground
you cant take away the land
all I've built up with my own two hands
I'll dig the line I'll make a stand
Against the Grain again
call me crazy call me desperate
this piece of land is what I have left
so until the acrid smoke burns my lungs
I'll fight it back with everything I've got
Singing (Chorus)
40 acres and a childhood dream
a place for kids to come and make believe
that on a mountain I can stand
and take flight across the span
Singing (Chorus)
and as the flames reached in to take Gold Hill
we stayed the night and we drained the well
what this fire takes we'll build again
Chorus
We held up fairly well
we stayed behind and we gave it hell
when the whole world seemed to be burning down
we closed in tight to save our little town

Moors & McCumber Boulder, Colorado
James Moors and Kort McCumber are Americana musicians who craft beautiful story songs that walk the line between rootsy folk and melodic pop.
